Description: Birthplace of 19th century agnostic orator Robert Green Ingersoll, a controversial speechmaker seen and heard by more Americans than any human prior to advent of motion pictures and radio. Orientation video, artifacts, memorabilia of Ingersoll and freethought movement incl. original manuscript, Ingersoll’s sword and walking stick, world’s largest bust of Ingersoll. Birth room is furnished in period style (1833). Local history room interprets Yates County, Town of Torrey history.

Our Story: Ingersoll was a household name during the Gilded Age. He's almost unknown today. Visit his birthplace and discover why he's "the most remarkable American most people never heard of."
