Description: The National Abolition Hall of Fame and Museum is situated in the Smithfield Community Center which was the site of the inaugural meeting of the New York State Anti-Slavery Society October 22, 1835. The site has a video production of the 1835 event. The Hall has information banners on each of the abolition inductees.The museum is in development and currently has displays created by college students.

Our Story: Stand in an 1820 structure that gave protection to aboltionists mobbed in Utica and hear the words of the declarations of the war on slavery. Learn the works and legacy of the 19th Century abolitionists inducted into the Hall of Fame, and nominate an inductee!
